2009 New Restaurant of the Year Award: Sponsored by cherry valley

Winner: The Cinnamon Kitchen, 9 Devonshire Square, London, EC2M 4WY

The Cinnamon Kitchen is a new concept from the Cinnamon Club team offering modern Indian cuisine. Set in the heart of the City of London, what was once a warehouse is now a mix of modern and traditional Indian styles showcasing theatre style cooking at its best with its central tandoor bar and grill offering 12 diners the opportunity to see how its authentic dishes are cooked. It also offers other dining areas that cater for up to 262 more diners.

Menus at this venue provide the same creativity and innovation as its Westminster counterpart. Designed by executive chef Vivek Singh, they comprise high quality seasonal ingredients and provenance. Appetisers include tasty south east Asian dishes such as kettyle beef salad with chilli and crisp basmati, lentil and curry leaf crusted hake with yogurt rice, and seared scallops with kadhai mushroom. Mains include Rajasthani spiced roast red deer with stir fried mushrooms and tandoori king prawns with Bengali kedgeree.
