Steve Scuffell: Winner of the Special Award

Steve Scuffell from Crown Moran Hotels won the Special Award at this year's annual Craft Guild of Chefs' Awards held on the 16th June.

Showing an early interest in food cooking and baking alongside family members, Steve Scuffell embarked on a classical apprenticeship at the Four Seasons Hotel, with qualifications from Westminster College.

Experience with Michel Giraud and Paul Bocuse in France was followed by work in the Channel Islands, Amsterdam and Bahrain, and later executive chef positions at The Westbury Hotel in London and New York, resulting in running two restaurants for 10 years, in Heathrow, Sunningdale. He is now executive chef responsible for Moran’s Hotel’s, the well known Irish chai.

He has won more than 100 medals, both at home and abroad, and he is the powerhouse behind the Wessex Salon Culinaire in Bournemouth, working tirelessly for what is now a successful regional salon.

Earlier this year he received the Craft Guild’s Vice Presidents Council Achievement Award.
