National Eisteddfod

2nd-9th August, Cardiff

The flagship cultural event will feature the Welsh Assembly Government's 180 cover 'Blas' self-service restaurant where visitors will be able to buy a selection of hot and cold dishes produced from a wide variety of True Taste Award-winning food and drink. While the Food to Go service is ideal for visitors in a hurry.

Short cookery course: Creative Desserts Evening

The evening sessions give you the opportunity to learn new skills and get your culinary questions answered by professionals, while participating in hands on workshops. Evening courses cost £55, with the wine tasting master class costing £25.

Great British Beer Festival 2009

4th-8th August 2009, Earls Court, London

Inside Earls Court this year, the Festival will serve over 450 different beers including golden ales, bitters, stouts and porters, and up to 100 ciders and perries, sourced from the some of the UK’s finest producers. There will also be a selection of international beers.

Short cookery course: Taste of the Far East 2 Day

6 - 7th August 2009, University of Brighton, School of Service Management, Culinary Arts Studio, Greynore 2, Darley Road, Eastbourne BN20 7UR

The two day course allows for more indepth skill development running from 11.15am - 5pm on the first day and 9.30am to 4.30pm on the second day. The course includes a mix of demonstration and hands on cookery with lunch and refreshments provided both days. The cost of the two day course is £175 (without accommodation).

A master class organised by the Academy of Food & Wine as part of its Professional Connoisseur series. Delegates will learn all the essential basics about wine, the major varietals, wine service and wine making. A tutored tasting by the Sherry Institute of Spain follows in the afternoon.
