Fresh! Naturally organic and Daylesford Organic were among the London gold winner's announced at this year's Great Taste Awards 2009.

Fresh won a three star award for its pie-ox cheek, root vegetables & ale, meanwhile Daylesford achieved a two star accolade for its cheddar.

Other winners included chocolate maker Paul A Young, gourmet coffee company Union Hand Roasted and Holland Park butchers C Lidgate. They each won three star gold awards for their sea salted caramel chocolates, foundation espresso and five spice pork ribs.

Furthermore, each producer took home multiple awards: for Paul A Young a two-star gold for his bergamot and maya honey ganache, for Union Hand Roasted no less than three two-star golds for their coffees, and for C Lidgate two one-star golds for honey roast ham and steak teriyaki stir fry.

The Awards are nationally recognised as the independent benchmark for fine foods, and each gold winner were blind tasted by a minimum of eight experts.

This year, out of a total of 4873 entries, 1030 products were awarded Gold; most were awarded one star (639), 308 were awarded two stars and just 83 were awarded the highest accolade of three-star gold.

High profile judges this year included Charles Campion, Antony Worrall-Thompson, Sarah Jane Evans MW and Amy Lame.

The awards ceremony for the 'Oscars of the Fine Food World' will take place at an event at Fortnum & Mason's on September 7th, when the Supreme Judging Panel will taste all regional winners live in front of a packed crowd to decide which entry is to be crowned Supreme Champion 2009.

Blur bass player, farmer and writer Alex James, chef Mark Hix, and Thomasina Miers of Masterchef fame are among those already confirmed for the panel.
