Call for entries for Soil Association Organic Food Awards

The Soil Association is inviting the UK food trade to nominate its favourite products for assessment in this year's Organic Food Awards.

Organisers of the awards are eager to encourage the producers of the highest quality organic food and drink to enter, but many continue to hide their accomplishments under an organic bushel, so the Soil Association would welcome tip-offs from the wider industry.

For two decades the annual Organic Food Awards have offered butchers, bakers and candy stick makers the chance to gain well-deserved recognition and a potential boost to sales by submitting their organic products to the scrutiny of a panel of expert chefs, artisans and food writers.

Barny Haughton, chair of the judging panel and proprietor of Bordeaux Quay restaurant and cookery school in Bristol, explains: "In previous years our judges have noted with surprise that a particular farmer or food manufacturer hasn't entered. So we would appreciate the help of everyone in the food industry and invite nominations for outstanding organic food products and producers in the UK. It would be great to be able to shine a light on more of the wonderful organic food and drink on offer in this country."

Nominating is easy: simply email Feona Horrex at the Soil Association (fhorrex@soilassociation.org) with your tip-off.

The award organisers will then contact the producers directly to encourage them to enter.

Judging will take place over three days at the Duke of Cambridge organic pub in London from Tuesday 7 - Thursday 9 July.
