Clapham House joins carbon management scheme

The Clapham House Group PLC has joined a pioneering carbon management scheme called Green500 to address carbon emissions and take action against climate change.

Green500, an environmental programme launched by the Mayor of London, is an initiative which aims to reduce London's carbon footprint by 60% by 2025.  The scheme intends to bring together 500 organisations with a significant presence in London and encourage them to work together to reduce the city's carbon emissions.

The Clapham House Group is the first restaurant group to join the scheme, with existing members ranging from Marks & Spencer to T-Mobile, EDF Energy and Transport for London. All members will produce an action plan for the year ahead, detailing how they plan to reduce their carbon footprint. Their success will be measured at the end of the year, with an awards presentation to reward the most successful companies.

The Mayor of London commented on the scheme: "It is absolutely cracking news that The Clapham House Group PLC has signed up to the Green500. We need even more of London's prominent organisations like this one to come on board and start receiving support and plaudits for their work to save energy, save money and cut carbon."

Paul Campbell, Chief Executive of The Clapham House Group PLC, added: "We value the Green500 programme as it is enabling us to focus and co-ordinate our green initiatives.  We are committed to working to reduce climate change in London and indeed across the UK. We hope to inspire other organisations to join the scheme to make London a greener city."

The group is the owner of restaurant brands Gourmet Burger Kitchen, The Real Greek and Tootsies.
