Covent Garden is official hub for London Restaurant Festival

The London Restaurant Festival (8-13th October 2009) has announced Covent Garden as the official hub of the festival.

From 1st October until the end of the festival, Covent Garden's Piazza will act as the official hub for the Capital's foodie community and will provide information on the festival, tickets, the programme of events taking place in London and Covent Garden, as well general information on the best foodie venues in Covent Garden, the West End and the wider London area.

During the festival, the Covent Garden Real Food Market, which runs every Thursday, will extend over the weekend of the festival and will feature four 'guest stalls' which will be hosted by a selection of top London restaurants. Visitors to the Piazza will be able to purchase gourmet treats from the Capital's top culinary experts, as well as sample some of London's best organic food.

Alongside the programme of live activities taking place in Covent Garden, over a dozen of Covent Garden's best restaurants will be serving London Restaurant Festival menus – so visitors will be able to dine out for as little as £10 in some of the eateries.

Simon Davis, festival director said: "We are thrilled to be partnering with Covent Garden to host the London Restaurant Festival hub. Covent Garden is such a popular and iconic destination which already hosts some of the capital's top restaurants and has an ever-growing independent dining offer in place. Covent Garden was an ideal destination to create a lively and engaging hub."

Sally Chatterjee, Visit London's interim CEO added: "Covent Garden is a key destination for both Londoners and visitors coming in to the capital.  Covent Garden is a genuine London foodie destination, which offers quality, fresh produce on sale at the Real Food Market each week, as well as a range of affordable and tempting restaurants on offer everyday - Covent Garden really does offer something for everyone."
