Milk Link, a co-operative aimed at paying its farmer members the best price for their dairy products, has launched a foodservice division.

To coincide with the move into this new sector, Milk Link has also opened an Innovation Centre at its Taw Valley Creamery in the heart of Devon.

Craig Dillon, head of foodservice explained more about the new line of business: "Building on the unique capabilities of the Milk Link business, Milk Link Foodservice will lead the field in quality dairy produce. We're committed to producing the highest quality dairy produce, harnessing our expertise for caterers across all sectors of the foodservice arena."

Dillon added that providing a sustainable future for its farmers is key and that the wide range of products has been designed to suit all catering needs from school kitchens through to pubs, restaurants, QSRs and travel and leisure outlets.

Key brands for the company include the Bladen range of cheese and butter graded especially for caterers, plus a wide selection of provenance products developed by the company's regional creameries.

These include Taw Valley cheddar, Tickler extra-mature cheddar, plus renowned Welsh and Scottish dairy brands Cadog and Lockerbie.

Dillon said the importance of taste and performance in the kitchen is always at the top of the agenda: "We've developed our foodservice offering to truly offer something for everyone. Larger pub and restaurant groups demand great-tasting, consistent cheese that cooks and presents well – and our Bladen range does just that. At the same time, caterers are also looking for 'provenance' brands that add value to their menus, such as Taw Valley or Tickler cheddars."
