Deal saves Tiffinbites

Over 400 jobs have been saved after a buyer for Gourmet Restaurants Ltd, owner of Tiffinbites, was found.

The group's businesses have been sold to V8 Gourmet Ltd.

In a statement, administrators Chantrey Vellacott DKF LLP said: "It is regrettable that there maybe losses by creditors, however the businesses and the livelihoods of over 400 employees has been safe guarded."

The administrators were appointed on Friday 16th January, after various reports in the press suggested that founder Jamal Hirani had walked out on the business.

Anoup Treon, chairman of V8 Gourmet, has confirmed that the businesses will continue all its existing operations.

V8 Gourmet will look to exploit the well established brands by pursuing expansion opportunities in the UK and overseas. Adding that despite the downturn in the economy, management expect performance of the businesses to be satisfactory.
