Harbour & Jones launches Stir-Up Sundays

Harbour & Jones has just launched the first of a series of 'Stir-Up Sundays' at the recently opened The Restaurant at St Paul's.

Stir-up Sunday' is the tradition of preparing a Christmas pudding on the last Sunday before the season of Advent. Everyone in the family takes a turn to stir the mixture whilst making a wish before leaving the pudding to mature.

The pudding is stirred from East to West to honour the journey made by the three wise men. Children sometimes chant the following rhyme adapted from the collect reading: "Stir up, we beech thee, the pudding in the pot; And when we get home we'll eat the lot".

At each event, over the forthcoming weeks, representatives from Harbour and Jones will lead the festivities with the Stir-Up accompanied by drinks and canapés for all those who attend.

Harbour and Jones co-founder Patrick Jones commented: "Our ethos centres around discovering traditional and forgotten British food and bringing it up-to-date. The little-known tradition of 'Stir-Up Sunday' struck a chord with us across the company, and we wanted to share it with our teams and clients. It's a fun and friendly way to mark the approaching festive season."
