Major donation to industry associations

Major International has presented cheques to the Craft Guild of Chefs, the British Culinary Federation and the Federation of Chefs Scotland following its 14th annual Golf Challenge.

Over 40 key players from the hospitality and foodservice sector attended the golf tournament, which took place in October at the Marbella Golf and Country club overlooking the Mediterranean.

Participants took to the challenging 18 hole, par 72 course in gale force winds and heavy rain. Despite the tough conditions, the winning team was captained by Martin Thomas from Oliver James, Graham Cornish, Lawrence Oldman and David Bryant.

The Major Challenge Trophy was won by Lee Tynan, Food Innovation and Development Controller at The Authentic Food Company for the best overall individual performance.

Paul Burton, Sodexo was awarded the Ian Everett Memorial Trophy in honour of Ian Everett, Major Business Development Manager, south west who is missed by David Bryant and all at Major International.

David Bryant, managing director of Major International, comments: "The weather didn't dampen our spirits, there was a great atmosphere and the Golf Challenge has grown considerably over the years and I was delighted to host this year's event, at one of the finest championship golf courses in Europe.

"The tournament gave us the opportunity to present cheques for £1,000 each to the Craft Guild of Chefs and The Federation of Chefs Scotland and the British Culinary Federation. For over six years, we have been doing our bit for the industry by offering financial help and support to members of these worthwhile associations who have fallen on hard times. Financial support is awarded at the discretion of the committee."
