Mathew Shropshall heads up Rhino Caterers Exercise

Chef Lecturer Mathew Shropshall will be leading a team of young University College Birmingham (UCB) students to Germany at the Rhino Caterers Exercise this month to compete at the Armoured Division Cookery and Military Skills competition.

The competition will be covered by Channel 5 and called 'Combat Chefs'. TV Chef Simon Rimmer is among the civilian judges this year.

The Birmingham University Team includes Jonathan Westwood & Joseph Gordon.

Gordon said: "I'm Looking forward to represent the UCB and demonstrate my craft skills."

Over four days they will take part in living outside, building a kitchen and oven and serving judges from field rations. 39 Army teams and 5 civilian teams will be competing for the trophy of Combat Chefs 2009.
