Nasreen crowned Curry Queen of the Year

Nasreen Aksi, franchise owner of Harlequin Leisure Group, has been crowned Curry Queen of the Year at the inaugural Scottish Curry Awards.

Ms Aksi'd three restaurants are all situated within Glasgow's West End –  Ashoka West End, Ashoka Ashton Lane and Spice of Life.  

This accolade is the latest in a string of awards won by the new Curry Queen. Last year she was crowned Business woman of the Year at the Scottish Asian Business Awards, and she also picked up a trophy at the British Curry Awards 2007 for the Ashoka Ashton Lane, the only restaurant in Glasgow to be nominated for this award.

Ms Aksi commented: "You can't afford to rest your laurel in the hospitality sector. That's why I've invested in new cutlery and crockery for the Ashoka West End and am introducing a new menu at the end of this month."

The winner picked up her award at a glittering ceremony at Glasgow's Thistle Hotel.
