New brasserie launches at Ipswich University

Catering company Couture is launching a brand new brasserie, delicatessen & foodhall on the ground floor of the iconic University Campus Suffolk Waterfront building at Neptune Quay in Ipswich.

The brasserie will then be open for business seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner from Thursday 21 May onwards. It will be open to the general public, as well as providing a relaxing environment for the students and staff of UCS.

Couture's managing director Marc Warde, who was born and raised locally in Bury St Edmunds, commented on the new venture: "I am delighted and proud to be opening our first site in Suffolk. The county is home to some of the finest produce in the UK and we are delighted to support local farmers and artisan suppliers. As a former student of the university it also great to be involved in this landmark new building in such a prestigious location."

The 120-seat brasserie will concentrate on producing classic British dishes using locally sourced ingredients from artisan producers. The brasserie will also be serving meals such as spit-roast free-range Sutton Hoo chicken, Essex bangers & mash and braised ox cheeks, as well as a range of light meals and salads.

The brasserie also has a terrace with outside seating overlooking the water and an exclusive dining room available for private hire for parties, celebrations and corporate functions.

The delicatessen & foodhall will also be offering high-end groceries, fresh fruit & vegetables, British speciality cheeses, Suffolk real ales, fine wines, cakes & pastries, cured meats, as well as handmade ice cream and chocolate. Take-away sandwiches will be available from the deli. There will also be a soft seating area for customers to relax with a cup of coffee and read the paper!

An invite-only opening event will take place on the evening of Wednesday 20 May when Spandau Ballet's Tony Hadley will cut the ribbon at 7.30pm.
