Shieldyourself, a Manchester Food, Fire and Health and Safety Consultancy, has held two Scores on the Doors seminars in the North West for the National Association of Master Bakers (NAMB) and is set to hold a third seminar in London this month.

Sarah Delaney, head of compliance services at Shieldyourself, led the North West seminars, which were held in Bolton and Shipley in June, and will also lead the London seminar at the Worshipful Company of Bakers on Thursday, September 24th.

She explained: "Scores on the Doors is a new scheme, which aims to let customers see how hygienic a food establishment is by using an easy to understand star rating with five stars being the top and zero the lowest.

"The scheme is aimed at driving improvements in food hygiene by encouraging businesses to take action to improve their rating, which is available to the public online and can also be displayed on the premises."

Delaney went on to explain that the seminars provided an opportunity for Master Bakers from all over the UK to find out the ins and outs of the legislation, including advice on how to ensure they are meeting the key criteria they will be inspected on.

"The best way a food business can prepare for the legislation coming into place in their area is to ensure they are meeting all the criteria and are ready and waiting for the Inspectors' visit."

Shieldyourself can provide food businesses with an in-depth audit, which includes information on the number of stars a business would achieve if Scores on the Doors were operational in their local authority. For more information please visit www.shieldyourself.co.uk or call 0870 011 8250.
