The Cinnamon Club wins big at World Food Awards

Acclaimed restaurateur Vivek Singh has been celebrating this weekend after his Indian eatery, The Cinnamon Club won 'Restaurant of the Year' at the inaugural World Food Awards.

Held at London's Hilton Park Lane, the ceremony saw Meena and Krit Pathak take home the 'Outstanding Achievement' award and Sir Gulam Noon scooped the 'Lifetime Achievement' award.

Other award winners included Levi Roots for his Reggae Reggae sauce, 3663 First for Foodservice and General Mills UK.

Speaking after the ceremony Harry Dulai, of the World Foods Association said the awards cemented the importance of the ethnic food market.

"Our aim is simple - to ensure that ethnic food is recognised as the important sector that it is. The calibre of our winners this evening – from Levi Roots to legends of our industry like Sir Gulam Noon and Kirit and Meena Pathak – is a reflection of the fact world food is now a thriving and fast-paced industry that has long crossed over into mainstream markets."

Winners were selected by a panel of industry experts including celebrity chefs Ainsley Harriott and Anjum Anand.
