The Good Food Guide urges restaurants to be vigilant after payment scam revealed

The Good Food Guide has been alerted to letters being sent out to restaurants from an organisation called ‘Good Food Guide Limited’ asking restaurants to pay for inclusion in ‘the 2012 edition of the Good Food Guide’.

The Good Food Guide says it has no association with these letters or the company sending them and never charges for inclusion. It is now investigating the matter and urges any establishment that receives one of these letters to email editors@thegoodfoodguide.co.uk  

Restaurants can not elect or pay to be included in The Good Food Guide; entry into the annual guide is based on feedback it receives from members of the public along with a team of anonymous inspectors eating in restaurants around the country.

Angela Newton, publisher of The Good Food Guide, urged restaurants to be vigilant: "We have no association with the letters some restaurants may have received recently from 'Good Food Guide Limited' asking for payment for inclusion in the 'Good Food Guide' and are investigating the matter. If you have received one of these letters it has not come from us.

"We never ask restaurants for money to feature in the guide and our criteria for inclusion is the same as it always has been – it is based on feedback from our readers and anonymous inspections."
