Top chefs and restaurants recognised at awards

Best Overall Restaurant award: Sam’s Chop House, Manchester
The 25th annual Hi-Life Dining Awards has recognised Sam's Chop House in Manchester as the Best Overall Restaurant and handed out an additional 11 awards to restaurants and chefs based in the north.
The evening was hosted by BBC news presenters, Gordon Burns and Ranvir Singh.
The judging panel for the Best Overall Restaurant award included Noddy Holder, Richard Harden (editor of Harden's Restaurant Guide, London), Ray King (food and drink critic), David Heeley (Hi-Life company president) and Paul Askew (head chef of London Carriage Works in Liverpool).
David Heeley, Hi-Life's company president, said: "It has been a spectacular evening and I'm delighted to see so many luminaries of the UK dining industry joining us to celebrate the crème de la crème of the industry. This is a particularly special year for Hi-Life as it's our 25th anniversary. Over the last 25 years we've seen our network grow from just 14 to 3,000 partner restaurants across the UK and Ireland.
"Our membership numbers also continue to rise by at least 10 per cent every year and have now topped 130,000. I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to all our award nominees and winners this year and to thank our guests for truly making it a night to remember."
