Top chefs and restaurants to take part in Thai Festival

Over 20,000 visitors are expected to gather at London's Greenwich Park to attend the Thai Festival next month.

Greenwich Park Bandstand will be transformed into a Thai village from 8-9 August. Visitors will be invited to sample a range of authentic Thai food.

The Blue Elephant restaurant (Fulham Broadway) will feature signature dishes from executive chef Khun Sompong, such as Thai green chicken curry and also black pepper tiger prawn. Customers will also be able to buy their popular curry pastes, sauces and more products from the Blue Elephant grocery line. The restaurant will also be putting on one of their famous fruit carving shows.

Joining the Blue Elephant will be other top Thai London favourites, Tawana (Westbourne Grove), Krungtep (Earls Court), Patcharee (Kingston Upon Thames).

In addition, people are free to browse delicate, hand-crafted ornaments, jewellery, clothes and other trade pieces as well as catch cookery demonstrations from some of London's top Thai chefs and the Thai Cooking School from West London.

At the start of the festival, elegant Thai dancers will parade from the St Mary's Gate - Greenwich Park main entrance, along to National Maritime Museum, down to the Meridian line (of the World Zero Longitude line) until they reach the Royal Observatory opposite the festival main entrance and end up at the main stage within the festival site.

There will also be contemporary and classical Thai dancing on the main stage during the event along with live traditional music by The Thai Music Circle in the pavilion throughout the day.

The Thai Food Festival is being sponsored and organised by the Thai Festival Organisation (TFO) and AmThai Paper. The event is officially supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thai Trade in the UK (Ministry of Commerce).
