Triumph for students at TVU prize giving

A total of 52 awards were handed out earlier this month at The London School of Hospitality and Tourism at Thames Valley University's (TVU) annual prize giving ceremony which recognises the hard work and achievements of students in sectors including professional cookery, event management and international culinary arts.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Ealing were amongst the 200 guests who attended the ceremony at the Holiday Inn, Brentford. Guest speaker and chair of the Restaurant Association, Robert Walton MBE, handed out the Junior Chefs Academy Award and the Frederick Forsyth CBE Award.

Four honorary awards were also presented to restaurateur and entrepreneur Roy Ackerman, Phillip Corrick, executive chef at the Royal Automobile Club, David Morgan-Hewitt, managing director  at the Goring Hotel, and John Campbell, food and beverage director at the Vineyard at Stockcross.

Professor David Foskett, head of the school of hospitality and tourism, said: "We are very proud of all of our students and each year find it difficult to decide which are most deserving of awards as the standard is just so high. It is a great pleasure to be able to hold an event like this and recognise the hard work that our students put in and their achievements over the year."
