Welsh chefs share skills at new cookery school

Budding cooks will have the opportunity to expand their culinary capabilities when a new fish and cookery school opens in Wales.

The Chef's Room is a collaboration between cook and food writer, Lindy Wildsmith, and Welsh specialist restaurant fine food supplier Vin Sullivan.

The courses, which start on 11 July, will be held in a state of the art teaching facility next to Vin Sullivan's premises in Blaenavon, Wales. The tutors include some of Wales' best known chefs and among them will be Franco Taruschio, founder of the legendary Walnut Tree restaurant.

In addition to fish the courses will dip into Vin Sullivan's larder that supplies a wide range of high quality fresh produce, poultry, meat, game and wild mushrooms according to season.

Wildsmith commented on the new venture: "We hope to encourage people to enjoy cooking and eating and in so doing to put eating and sitting around the family table back at the heart of every home. We also hope to showcase traditional Welsh cooking, Welsh produce and the producers in the area."

Taruschio continued: "Cooking for me is a pleasurable experience to be shared. My motto has always been cook with love, cook with your soul-have fun."

Students will also benefit from the skills and knowledge of Vin Sullivan's experience as award-winning fishmongers, as The Chef's Room is located next to the company's fish preparation area.
