Whitbread passes on VAT reductions

Whitbread PLC has announced that from today it will be passing on VAT reductions to its customers as part of its duty to help them through the economic crisis.

The savings will affect the price of accommodation, food, non-alcoholic drinks and sundries.

As a result of this, an average of 100,000 customers who dine at a Whitbread restaurant everyday will save £6 million over the financial year. In addition, Costa Coffee drinkers who consume over 1.6 million cups of coffee every week will save a total of £6 million per year.

Alan Parker, Chief Executive of Whitbread PLC, commented: "Our great value and quality promise begins as soon guests walk through our doors. We are delighted that we are able to pass on the VAT saving to our customers so quickly."
