Winner of Tabasco British Oyster Opening Championship revealed

Armando Lema of Coastline La Brocca has won The Tabasco British Oyster Opening Championship 2009 title.

The well deserved winner opened 30 oysters in 3 minutes 25 seconds, a staggering 19 seconds faster than Fredrik Lindfors of The Fish Shop in second place.  Third place was given to Sam Tamsanguan from Wilton's restaurant.

Armando celebrated his win with a Loch Ryan native oyster with a few drops of Tabasco.

A total of 450 native oysters were opened (and then eaten) earlier this week and over 100 guests cheered on representatives from oyster restaurants, oyster suppliers and fishmongers from all over Britain.

Armando beat off stiff competition from 15 other entrants.
