Waldorf Hilton counts down to 100 year anniversary

The five-star Waldorf Hilton Hotel in Aldwych has begun its 100 day countdown to celebrate its 100 year anniversary in January next year.

The 299-bedroom hotel is proudly flying centenary flags on its exterior and has a clock on display in the foyer counting down the days, hours and minutes to the official anniversary.

The build-up to the centenary began in November last year when the hotel introduced history tours in conjunction with its patisseries afternoon teas.

The hotel also reintroduced the Tango Tea, one of London's famed events in the 1920s, in June this year.

Peter Beckwith, who was appointed general manager earlier this year, said: "London is world renowned for its historic hotels and as we look forward to our 100 year anniversary we're proud for the Waldorf Hilton to be a part of that group.

"Our guests benefit from the combination of the hotel's rich heritage and the luxuries of 21st Century hospitality which, complemented by our beautiful restoration, provide for a truly world class experience."

Hilton Hotels Corporation, upon acquiring the hotel in January 2004, completed a £35 million renovation to create both contemporary and design led bedrooms.
