SURREY'S LANGTON GETS NEW LOOK

Chef Simon Adams - has a role in building business at the new-look Stephan Langton restaurant in Surrey

After nearly a year running the Stephan Langton near Abinger Common, Surrey, Chris and Rosie Robinson have unveiled their new-look country restaurant headed by new chef Simon Adams.

Adams, who was previously at the Post restaurant in Banstead, with TV chef Tony Tobin, has moved to the upgraded outlet on the privately owned Wotton Estate, to take an active role in the venue's 'renaissance'.

The food is a star attraction featuring in leading guides such as Michelin and The Good Food Guide. On the daily changing menu, dishes include baked beetroot and goats cheese with walnuts or local pigeon breast and foie gras.

Chris Robinson said: "When we met Simon and tasted his cooking we knew he would fit in with us and our vision. He is highly accomplished and has the right mentality to really go places."

Says Adams: "Chris and Rosie give me the freedom to create and develop new dishes without being a slave to fashion. We have access to great suppliers and I love sourcing local produce and using what is in season."

The Stephan Langton is named after the reforming Archbishop of Canterbury, who set out to limit the excesses of King John in the early 13th century. There has been a pub in this location for hundreds of years.
