Matt Owens
I am currently the Executive pastry chef for Zuidam UK over seeing three production sites, to produce desserts for Hotels, Restaurants and events to include Wimbledon tennis, Cheltenham gold cup and Celtic Manor Hotel.
Before joining Zuidam I worked for the Compass group and had Executive Pastry chef positions at Four Seasons Park Lane, The Waldorf London, Millennium Gloucester hotel. This all came after three years full time chef’s diploma at Westminster Kingsway College and two years part time for advanced pastry.
I was awarded second place in the World for individual pastry entry at the Culinary World Cup 2006 In Luxemburg. I was also awarded the title of pastry chef of the year 2001. I gained Gold in the culinary Olympics 2000 in Erfurt Germany.
I have been a keen competitor for 14 years gaining over 100 medals both here and abroad for both static and live pastry work.
I judge many competitions to include Salon Culinaire London/Birmingham, Combined Services Chef of the Year, Compass Chef of the Year, London Chef of the Year to name a few.
I work with FutureChef both on the lead up and on the final day.
I am Schools and College Director for the CGOC and have been on the main committee for 12 years, also recently played a part with the new Culinary Academy with mentorship and organisation for future competitions.
