2009 Cost Sector Chef Award: Sponsored by schwartz for chef

Winner: Michael Godfrey, Bekynton, Eton College

Since taking on the role with Sodexo in Bekynton at Eton College, work colleagues say that Michael Godfrey has transformed the eating experience.

Godfrey, with his brigade of 10, serve more than 380,000 meals a year at the college where he has two patissiers and a small bakery. He is responsible for the day to day management of the kitchen for the college’s students. He is also tasked with the development of food standards for core and commercial activities.

Last year, he judged part of the Major Mini Series at Westminster Kingsway College where he assisted in the practical examination process for end of course exams, NVQ Level 3, kitchen and larder.
