African hotel chain looks to snap up hospitality workers

Despite the economic crisis claiming many casualties in the leisure industry, British hospitality workers are being targeted by foreign companies looking to acquire key skills.

Berkeley Scott, recruitment firm for the hotel and leisure industry, has been retained by an African hotel chain to recruit a variety of senior positions across the whole of Western Africa.

The positions, which include General Managers, Deputies, Facilities Managers, Food & Beverage Managers and Head Chefs, will all be based in one of the company's 19 African hotels.

Mark Darby, managing director of Berkeley Scott, said: "The reputation British hospitality workers have across the globe is very strong. The professionalism, dedication and raw talent they posses is the reason why the hotel chain have come to the UK to recruit their key employees."

A delegation from South Africa will be flying out to interview British workers over the coming weeks. Those successful will be flown out to Africa and given accommodation, all whilst being paid an "attractive salary".

"These roles really are life changing to the individuals employed" explains Darby "but more than that, at a time when the focus is on the nationalities of people working in British hotels it underlines how well people within this industry travel, and moreover how well thought of British hospitality personnel are."

Anyone interested in applying has until 10th June to contact Berkeley Scott for further information.
