Aldo Zilli takes all non-sustainable fish off the menu

Celebrity Chef Aldo Zilli has taken all non-sustainable fish off the menu at his flagship restaurant, Zilli Fish.

The move is in response to recent revelations that our seas could run out of fish by 2048.

Spurred on by the recent thought-provoking documentary, 'The End of the Line', Aldo will now only serve fish that has been approved by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).

The statistics are bleak when considering what great damage over fishing is doing to marine life and the planet as a whole. In 1989 the world's fish reserves peaked and have been declining ever since, with trawlers scouring the ocean floor and then throwing back 80 per cent of the catch dead and unwanted, to avoid exceeding quotas.

This does not mean that all fish will be off the menu. New items include organically farmed cod, Alaskan salmon, red snapper and spider crab.

Aldo said: "I am committed to only serving responsible fish so that in fifty years time, all the species that we know and love won't be off the menu."
