BHA awards commend outstanding service within hospitality industry

This year's awards, given by the British Hospitality Association to commend outstanding service to the tourism and hospitality industry, were presented at the BHA's luncheon at Grosvenor House, London attended by over 600 members and guests.

At the presentation, Bob Cotton, chief executive, said that the awards honoured individuals or organisations for the contribution they had made to the industry during the year.
 
The winners were:
 
BHA education and training award
sponsored by the Hospitality Skills Academy
Winner: A team of six college professionals - Kevin Bayes (Great Yarmouth College), Phil Dobson (University College, Birmingham), Garry Hunter (Westminster Kingsway College), Shyam Patiar (Llandrillo College), Neil Rippington (Colchester Institute) and Steve Thorpe (Norwich City College) - for their work in developing the new Professional Cookery Diploma.
 
BHA food award
sponsored by ASDA
Winner: Northcote Manor, Lancashire
For the lead it has taken in encouraging the use of local produce and in encouraging local suppliers.
 
BHA tourism award
sponsored by AA Hotel Services
Winner: Brend Hotels
One of the top ten employers in the South West the company has over 1,100 staff and is quality driven, continuing to re-invest in its hotels year-on-year.
 
BHA sustainable business award
sponsored by Nestlé Professional
Winner: Vacherin
For introducing and developing sustainable measures dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of the company's activities.
 
BHA marketing award

Winner: Pride of Britain Hotels

BHA innovation award

BHA special award
Awarded to Peter Catesby, a long-standing member of the association, a past chairman of the BHA National Executive and chairman of the BHA Finance Committee for the last ten years.
 
Tourism for all award
Winner: Park House Hotel, Sandringham and manager Tess Gilder
For an establishment run by a team of people who provide an exceptional level of service to the elderly and to those lacking mobility.
