Chef Antonio Carluccio stabbed at home

Chef Antonio Carluccio, aged 71, has been taken to hospital after allegedly stabbing himself in the chest with a kitchen knife, according to The Telegraph newspaper.

The Italian television chef was rushed to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and later discharged and allowed to go home.

Details of what actually happened on the Monday night of the incident, which took place at the chef's home in Battersea, South London, are unclear at the moment.

Mr Carluccio, who was awarded an OBE last year, opened his chain of Carluccio Italian food shops in 1991 and expanded the chain of restaurants across the UK.
