Five more ‘excellent’ colleges revealed by National Skills Academy Hospitality

The National Skills Academy Hospitality has endorsed a further five colleges after auditing the colleges for their delivery of the Professional Cookery Diploma.

Excellent content and delivery is assured by the Academy endorsement and brings the total number of colleges endorsed to 13.

The latest five colleges to receive the "excellence" endorsement are:

• Chichester College
• Darlington College
• South Downs College
• Thames Valley University
• The Manchester College

These five join the previous eight colleges recognised which are:

• Bournemouth & Poole, The College
• City College Norwich
• Colchester Institute
• Leeds City College
• Newcastle College
• Trafford College
• University College Birmingham
• Westminster Kingsway College

Such is the demand for the graduates of these colleges, 10 employers signed up to a pilot Graduate Chef Programme. This will now be extended and businesses which sign up will attend two events per year to meet and recruit students graduating with merit or distinction in levels 1, 2 & 3 from the 13 colleges. This creates a direct pipeline for those that have engaged with the programme to interview dedicated and professional students who wish to continue their development with enlightened employers.

David McHattie CEO said: "I am delighted to welcome these five colleges to this elite group. By identifying the colleges that deliver the Professional Cookery Diploma to excellent standards and connecting merit and distinction students with employers this gives certainty to students, raises the bar for other colleges and provides industry with an assured pipeline of talent in this key area. What is clear is that industry has an appetite to recruit talent and these colleges are critical in meeting the demands of the sector."
