Industry experts gather for HIT Scotland's Emerging Talent Conference

Around 400 professionals and students are expected to attend The Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland's Emerging Talent Conference on February 2010.

This year's theme is leadership and includes a mix of keynote speakers, networking events and development workshops. The event will close with HIT Scotland announcing the recipients of the 2010 Emerging Talent Scholarships. International consumer goods company, Unilever are involved as the first headline sponsor in the event's six year history. 

The first of two keynote speakers is Oli Norman, former Ernst & Young Scottish 'Young Entrepreneur of the Year', star of the Channel 4 programme 'Last Millionaire Standing' and owner of leading Scottish marketing, PR and events company DADA. The afternoon keynote speaker is Jamie Andrew, an inspirational mountaineer who became a quadruple amputee after an accident climbing a mountain in France. 

Four workshops have been created to appeal to both professionals and student delegates. Topics include networking, mentoring, leadership and a chefs demonstration.  

There will also be presentations by former emerging talent scholars and a group interview between leading professionals including Peter Lederer, of Gleneagles Hotel and VisitScotland, and HIT Scotland trustee Fergus Chambers of Cordia.

The announcement of this year's Emerging Talent Scholars represents a £100,000 investment from HIT Scotland towards developing future leaders for the industry.

Around 200 Scholarships will be awarded to people from all backgrounds and career stages in hospitality, tourism, leisure, travel and catering businesses across Scotland. 

David Cochrane, chief executive of HIT Scotland said: "Leadership is integral to future of the hospitality industry and by helping raise the aspirations and encourage leadership we can help bring the industry together to help the country compete in the world tourism market place."

The event will be held in Perth Concert Hall, Scotland.
