Michelin Eating Out in Pubs 2009 launches

This year’s edition of the Michelin’s Eating Out in Pubs guide has launched today (3 September), treating its readers to over 500 of the best pubs serving good food in the UK and Ireland.

Out of the 563 pubs included in the guide, 84 of these are new additions.

The guide is divided into regions and counties, and each region includes a brief overview of that area followed by a map showing the location of each pub.

Every pub has a full page with a colour picture and descriptive text. Other essential information includes contact information, opening times, location, prices, typical dishes and the beer served up.

All of the pubs in the guide have been selected for the quality of their cooking.

Commenting on the edition, Derek Bulmar, the guide's editor, said: "The standard of cooking in British and Irish pubs keep getting better and better. We are seeing a growing confidence in our culinary heritage, greater use of local, seasonal ingredients and a rediscovery of regional specialities."

The Punch Bowl Inn in Cumbria has also been selected as the Michelin Pub of the Year 2009 in the guide.
