New Scottish Culinary Team Managers appointed

The Federation of Chefs Scotland has appointed two new culinary team managers for the Scottish junior and Scottish senior culinary teams.

Scottish junior team manager is David Auchie from South Lanarkshire College and Scottish senior team manager is David Hunt from Inspire Catering.

Auchie, a lecturer at South Lanarkshire College, was a member of the Scottish Culinary team from 1996 to 2004 when he captained the Scottish Team that came 5th in the Culinary Olympics in Erfurt. He has also achieved success as an individual competitor including the title of Scottish Chef of the Year in 1997.

Hunt is currently the executive chef at Inspire Catering, and has worked in many senior positions within contract catering over the last 15 years and was a member of the Scottish Culinary Team from 1996- 2002. He also brings competition experience to the team having won accolades such as the Craft Guild of Chefs Contract Catering Chef of the Year in 2007 and reached the final of National Chef of the Year Competition in 2006.
 
Joe Queen, president of the Federation of Chefs, said: "We are delighted that we have secured the services of 2 such well known and respected chefs as our team Managers. Both their experience in competitions and the passion that they possess for the industry will be of great benefit to the culinary teams and we look forward to great success in the World Cup and many other competitions to come."

The new team managers will oversee the recruitment and development of the Scottish Culinary Teams and run the team training sessions at Gleneagles Hotel, the official training venue for the culinary teams.

The Scottish Culinary Teams represent Scotland at the World's largest culinary competitions accredited by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS).

Scotland has been a national WACS members since 1998, with the team consistently ranked within the top 15 in the world. The focus of the teams will be getting prepared for the Culinary World Cup that will take place at Expogast in Luxemburg in November 2010.
