Purnell's listed among top 10 restaurants outside London

Purnell's, this year's winner of the Craft Guild of Chefs New Restaurant Award, has been named one of the top 10 restaurants outside London in this year's London Restaurant Awards.

Other winning establishments to make into the top 10 are Anthony's, Le Champignon Sauvage, L'Enclume, The Fat Duck, The Kitchin, Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons, Northcote, Restaurant Sat Bains, and The Waterside Inn.

 

 

The remaining restaurants to pick up an award are:

Galvin Bistrot de Luxe – French Restaurant of the Year

Theo Randall at the InterContinental – Italian Restaurant of the Year

Barrafina – Iberian Restaurant of the Year

Aaya – Oriental Restaurant of the Year

Tayyabs – Indian Restaurant of the Year

Market – Local Restaurant of the Year

The Greenhouse – Awards of Excellence

Le Café Anglais – New Restaurant of the Year

The Wolseley – Toptable.com Best Business Lunch

Jason Atherton – Outstanding  London Chef

Michael Belben – Restaurateur of the Year

The Greenhouse – Outstanding Restaurant Service

Mark Hix – Outstanding Contribution to London Restaurants

Le Café Anglais – aAIM London Restaurant of the Year

Carluccios – Best Restaurant Chain

Sam's Bar and Brasserie – Evening Standard 60 under £60 award

 

Fay Maschler, chair of the judging panel, commented: "Eating out has become part of the fabric of life and as such needn't, and shouldn't, always be regarded as a special occasion…the fact that so many of our winning chefs and restaurateurs are British born and bred gives a lot of hope for the future."

The glittering awards ceremony took place last night (1 September) at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
