The Punchbowl Country Pub and Restaurant rated “outstanding” for its dining

The Punchbowl Country Pub and Restaurant in Churchtown, Garstang, has been recognised by VisitEngland for its dining, achieving an “outstanding” overall score of 80%.

The Quality Assessment scheme, which establishes quality in tourism, awarded the restaurant 90% for hospitality and 88% for local produce.

Assessor Graham Morphy-Morris said The Punchbowl is a "well presented public house enjoying a good central location in a small village close to major access roads and tourist attractions nearby" offering "spacious and well presented dining."

Commenting on the service he said that the staff had "a good understanding of the menu" and provided a "friendly welcome on arrival" and "a very pleasant and friendly level of interaction with guests."

The Punchbowl offers diners a choice of locally sourced homemade dishes including Goosnargh chicken liver and smoked bacon pate, Fleetwood fisherman's pie and Garstang suckling pig.

Manager Paul Bloomer added: "At The Punchbowl our aim is to give our customers exactly what they want; quality food, great value for money and outstanding levels of service.

"We go out of our way to ensure that each and every diner enjoys a relaxed and stress free dining experience, and we are delighted that we have been recognised by such a prestigious industry body for our commitments."
