Top chefs star at Bolton Food and Drink Festival

Top celebrity chefs are starring in this year's Bolton Food and Drink Festival, being held from August 27 to 30.

Chefs Gino D'Acampo, James Martin and the Hairy Bikers will be in action during the four-day culinary event.

All of the chefs will be entertaining audiences with cooking demonstrations in Victoria Square, in the Rangemaster Cookery Theatre.

Duo Dave Myers and Si King, better known as the Hairy Bikers, will take centre stage on Saturday August 28, D'Acampo will be appearing in the cookery theatre on Sunday August 29 and Martin will be cooking in the marquee on Monday August 30.

All cooking demonstrations cost £5 and take place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. New for this year, the ticket price includes a recipe card for each demo so food lovers can try out the chefs' ideas at home. There'll also be an opportunity to meet the celebrity chefs at book signings following the cookery shows.

Councillor Ismail Ibrahim, Bolton Council's executive member for development, said: "Preparations are well underway to make this the best festival to date and this year we've extended the event following feedback from the public, and town centre businesses.

He added: "The cookery demonstrations are a great way to pick up a few tips from the professionals and last year tickets sold out in days of going on sale. We'd urge people to call in early so they're not left disappointed.

"There are also lots of free cookery demos from top local chefs which people can attend throughout the festival."
