Wareing says Ramsay will bounce back

Michelin-starred chef Marcus Wareing has told Sky News that his former boss Gordon Ramsay will bounce back after news broke yesterday of profits at his restaurants slumping by almost 90%.

Wareing spoke about the effects of the recession on the restaurant industry: "I don't think it's, sort of, one man is having problems I think it's a lot of people out there having a huge amount of problems."

The chef who runs Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley added that Gordon's celebrity persona may have done more harm than good and that perhaps he's not spent as much time in his kitchen's as he should have: "I don't think the general public are that stupid that if there they're got a name above a door and somebody's not there, I think they see straight through that."

Wareing described Ramsay's restaurant empire as 'fabulous' saying he'll bounce back. "Trust me Gordon Ramsay hasn't gone anywhere."

Yesterday, various media reports showed how profits at Gordon Ramsay Holdings fell by 87% over the last year and that net debt rose by £5.5 million.

Ramsay and his father-in-law Chris Hutcheson have had to sink over £5 million into the business to keep things afloat.

The financial statement concluded by saying the next year looks stronger especially with the reopening of Pétrus and the Savoy Grill.
