Coach & Horses welcomes Head Chef Henry Herbert

Clerkenwell's award - winning pub, The Coach & Horses, welcomes new Head Chef, Henry Herbert.
The Victorian hostelry, originally an ale house and bear pit, (est. 1855) has soared in popularity since re-opening in 2003, and has become renowned for its food as well as its interesting selection of wines.
A graduate from Westminster Catering College and a 5th generation baker, Henry is passionate about carefully sourced, good quality seasonal ingredients.
He chooses small suppliers with whom he can develop a personal relationship, but also forages for wild ingredients in and around London – crab apples from his favourite tree at the Oval, blackberries from Hampstead Heath and mushrooms from Epping Forest have all made it into his kitchen over the last couple of weeks.
Owners Giles and Colette Webster said, "When Henry worked here as a student, his enthusiasm and talent delighted us and our customers. He returns with the experience and maturity to produce food we're immensely proud of."
For lunch, Henry has introduced a daily-changing menu of pub classics with a distinct nod to modernity.
Small plates start at £4 and might include rabbit rillettes with cornichons on toast, smoked sprats with horseradish or a salt beef sandwich with gherkins and mustard.
Main courses are priced between £8 for the 8oz Coach burger and £11.50 for Chicken, ox-tongue and caper pie with mash and greens or Beer-battered haddock and chips with proper mushy peas and tartar sauce.
The Coach has also launched Henry's new Sunday menus, including a brilliant value £10 roast with all the trimmings and a prix fixe set menu priced at £13 for two courses, £16 for three.
There are also classic bar meals for £8, such as Shepherd's pie with greens, and still more bargains such as £5 Bellinis and Bloody Marys, and a family-friendly children's roast at £5.
