Chefs to compete in Eccles Cake Off 2017
Adam Reid, from Adam Reid at The French, and Lisa Allen, head chef of the Michelin-starred Northcote restaurant, will be among the chefs taking part on April 25 at bar and grill, Solita Didsbury.
Founder of the competition, restaurant blogger Hungry Hoss, said: “We’ve a cracking line up of chefs and industry experts set to bake some of the best Eccles cakes the north of England has ever seen.
“The rules are pretty simple - the Eccles cake creations can be traditional or inventive but need to be ‘recognisable’ in some way as Eccles cakes.”
Hoss will judge the competition alongside Marc Wilkinson, Michelin-starred chef and proprietor of Fraiche restaurant, Oxton, Thom Hetherington, CEO of Northern Restaurant and Bar, and Tony Naylor, Guardian and BBC Good Food writer.
Tickets cost £25 and money raised will go to Not Just Soup, the charity founded by Solita brand creator Franco Sotgiu, which sees restaurants in Manchester cook for the hungry and homeless in Manchester.
