Fish 'n' chips top Best of British survey
Fish 'n' Chips have topped a poll as the 'Best of British', according to a survey conducted by Holiday Inn.
The poll of 7,000 Brits was conducted by the hotel group to find out the 50 things people love the most about Britain.
Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II, took second place in the survey, and old fashioned pubs came in at third place.
And Sunday roasts and red phone boxes completed the top five in the list. Some of the other best celebrated foods on the list included cream teas, in at seventh place, cheddar cheese, in 17th position, and Cornish pasties following in 22nd place.
Andrew Smith, spokesman for Holiday Inn, commented on the findings: "As a nation, we are rightly patriotic. This list gives a fascinating insight into exactly what it means to be British – our food, history, Royalty, our many wonderful characters and all the fabulous places we love to visit."
