Former chef releases cooking book to raise money for charity

Written by: Edward Waddell
Disability campaigner David Croft from St Austell has released a cookbook called Food for Thought to raise money for charity.

The Food for Thought cookbook contains recipes from James Martin, Tom Aitkens, Mark Hix, Nathan Outlaw, Paul Ainsworth and Gordon Ramsay. The book also includes a dinner party section highlighting the achievements of ten other tetraplegics.

Croft said: “I am extremely grateful for all the support I have received in the past and also fortunate to have had some superb breaks away. However, I know of others less fortunate so it would be great if the auction could make its initial target figure of £5,000. This to enable others to take a relaxing break in Cornwall.”

Recently Croft went on a deep sea fishing trip for the first time in over 50 years with two other paralysed friends thanks to the Wetwheels Foundation. Croft said he was “over the moon” to go deep sea fishing again. He was injured in 1980 while in Bermuda competing at the karate world championships.

Money raised from the book will go towards The Haven, which aims to showcase disability provision within the hospitality industry. To view the auction, visit: https://www.32auctions.com/thehaven2.
