Former Tamarind executive chef launches solo venture

Written by: Katie Imms
Peter Joseph – former executive chef at the Michelin-starred restaurant, Tamarind – has opened his first solo venture in Chelsea, Kahani.

Blending British and Indian cuisines (Joseph’s ‘two home countries), Kahani follows Joseph’s ethos of ‘eating to celebrate, bring people together, break boundaries and share tales.’

A contemporary Indian menu will feature seasonal and sustainable British ingredients, with dishes focusing on grilled meats, fish and vegetables from the robata grill.

As such, all starters are served as finger food, including the octopus and tandoori calamari, and samosa platter.

‘Classic’ mains such as smoked Malabar prawns, Gressingham duck breast and tandoori broccoli will sit alongside three curries: ‘Kahani’ butter chicken, Nalli Gosht and a Thalassery Biryani, and a selection of vegan and vegetarian options.

Desserts such as raspberry and mint ‘melt in the middle’ cheesecake, chilli chocolate mousse bomb, and a tandoori pineapple crème brûlée are designed to further abandon tradition.

Joseph said: “Kahani means ‘story’ and I am thrilled to be embarking on this new chapter in my life.

“Love for food and a pursuit of excellence in all that I commit to, has taken me on a fascinating journey and I want to keep innovating and pushing boundaries with my food, to ensure that people keep following my story and coming back for more”.
