Hospitality industry candidates selected for WorldSkills squad

Seven young men from the UK hospitality industry will join forces to form Squad UK, which will then go on to compete at WorldSkills London 2011 next October.
The successful new Squad members are: Cooking Oliver Lloyd, 19, a young chef from Sevenoaks who works for Claridge's Hotel and is City & Guilds qualified Ben Murphy, 19, a young chef from Hendon who works for Koffman's and is City & Guilds qualified Brendan Baxter, 18, from County Down, Northern Ireland an apprentice chef who works for Restaurant 23, Warrenpoint and studies at Southern Regional College Confectionery/Pastry Stefan Howells, 20, a young chef from Oxford who works for Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons Jon Hogan, 20, a young pastry chef from Brighton who works for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and is City & Guilds qualified Restaurant Service Benjamin Hare, 19, who has trained in Restaurant Service, from Shirley, Solihull, who works for Liaison Restaurant and is City & Guilds qualified Wojciech Pastor, 20, from Northampton, who is currently studying at Northampton College and works the Red Lion in East Haddon and is City & Guilds qualified Each Squad UK member will be supported by a dedicated training manager, who will help them prepare for the final selection competitions to be held in June 2011. Oliver Lloyd said: "The competition was tough but it is something we've been training and preparing ourselves for so we were really pleased when we were told we'd got through and made it in to Squad UK. Being in the Squad is a great opportunity to showcase what we do, something that not a lot of people get a chance to achieve and it will highlight how skilled the hospitality industry is."
