London restaurant serves over 4.5 tonnes of steak in less than a year

The High Timber restaurant, located on the banks of the River Thames, has served over 4.5 tonnes of steak in just nine months, the restaurant has revealed.
In less than a year, customers have enjoyed more than 16,000 British Cumbrian rib-eye steaks alone. Co-owner Neleen Straus commented: "Having been voted the best steak in the city when we opened last year, it is always one of our most popular dishes. However, we and our butcher were completely staggered by the total figure. "We are thrilled that High Timber's City diners appreciate our focus on great steak and fantastic wine. Let's just hope cows aren't next on the UK's endangered list." High Timber opened in March 2009 and is the brainchild of Gary & Kathy Jordan, of Jordan Wine Estate in Stellenbosch as well as London restaurateur Neleen Strauss.
