nutella Chef Challenge winner enjoys Italy trip with Ferrero
The University of Derby student got to experience first-hand how confectionaries are created at the Ferrero Factory in Piedmont.
Accompanied by Ferrero UK & Ireland’s head of foodservice, Fiona Morgan & channel operators manager, Zareen Deboo, the two-day trip also included a tour of the hazelnut region of Italy, a visit to a Michelin-starred restaurant and one of the region’s oldest wineries.
Speaking about the trip, Morgan said: “The Italian town of Alba is where it all began for nutella and Ferrero. We were delighted to be able to share this experience with our worthy nutella Chef Challenge winner!
“At the competition, Regor wowed us with his inspirational dessert and this trip was the perfect way to reward his creativity, giving him a rare insight into what it takes to create our most-loved quality products.”
Crowned the winner of the nutella Chef Challenge at the Salon Culinaire, Siiner’s dessert included a chocolate pastry tart filled with blackberry mousse. He also made a bon bon filled with nutella, with crispy filo pastry in the shape of an old fashioned sweet.
Reflecting on the prize, Siiner said: “A huge thank you to Ferrero Foodservice for this opportunity! It was amazing to see inside the Ferrero Factory and I was truly blown away by the dinner at La Madernassa.
“It was incredible to be able to taste all of these dishes and see the chef’s skill on each plate – it has been an inspiring experience.”
Alongside the factory trip, Siiner got the opportunity to sample a tasting menu at the Mitchelin star La Madernassa. Chef Michelangelo Mammolitti created each dish to celebrate Italian produce.
