Renowned food writer judges sausages at Show

Written by: Admin
Food writer Tom Parker Bowles is judging this year's Spring Sausage Competition at the Devon County Show today.
The local producer is currently tasting between 30 and 40 sausages all made by local producers using locally sourced pork. Deborah Custance-Baker, competition organiser and Show Steward, said she was delighted that Tom was a judge: "He's young, interested in real food and not afraid to speak his mind." Commenting on the sausages, Deborah added: "Real sausages are much tastier than any others. The animals are traditionally reared and the meat is allowed to mature, giving the sausages a fuller flavour. These are a real meal instead of just a filler." Tom is also signing copies of his latest book – The Year of Eating Dangerously: A Global Adventure in Search of Culinary Extremes – at the show. The event is being held at Westpoint near Exeter and kicked off yesterday and runs until tomorrow (15-17 May).
