The search begins for Pub Pie Champion
The hunt is on to find the next British Pie Week Pub Pie Champion.
Now in its fifth year, Jus-Rol is urging chefs to send in their best pub pie recipes for the chance to be crowned the 2012 Pub Pie Champion.
Chefs will be given the chance to dish up their most innovative pie recipes to pub goers.
Prizes on offer for the winner include a £500 cash prize, a personalised chef's jacket, the coveted British Pie Week trophy, and national and trade press coverage for the chef and their pub.
To enter chefs need to visit www.britishpieweek.co.uk and fill in the form before the 29th January 2012. The winner will be announced during British Pie Week, 5th-11th March 2012. Customer votes will also count towards Pub Pie Champion entries. Pubs can rally support for their pie by downloading a free poster at www.britishpieweek.co.uk/vote. Jus-Rol will also be giving a special prize for the pub with the most votes. John McKears, foodservice sales manager from Jus-Rol, explained: "The pie has always been at the heart of a great pub experience, we are encouraging pub chefs to build on the established success of pies by being more adventurous in the kitchen and thinking differently in terms of new recipes and ingredients.
"Jus-Rol's British Pie Week Pub Pie Champion competition is about celebrating the pie and pub heritage, and providing an incentive for chefs to show what they can do against some of the best pie makers in the licensed trade. We look forward to seeing some innovative recipes that add a fresh, new dimension to the traditional art of pie making."
Last year's winner Craig Hennessey, will form part of the judging panel in choosing the 2012 champion.
