Sheffield food awards announced

Written by: Admin
Sheffield's restaurants and cafes have something to shout about this week with the launch of the new eat Sheffield website and annual awards.
Originally launched in 2006 under the moniker Sheffield Area Restaurant Forum, the organisation has undergone a serious revamp under the supervision of new eat Sheffield manager Niki Baker. Niki said: "eat Sheffield is dedicated to promoting dining out in the city. The annual awards recognise and reward some of our best and favourite establishments. They are open to the public vote, which means the awards are an accurate reflection of Sheffield's very best eateries. "People can vote through the website, which is also a comprehensive resource for anyone wanting to explore dining out in Sheffield. It also gives restaurateurs the chance to shout about their menus, promotions and events, and we work closely with them to make sure we have the most accurate and up to date information." Based at Sheffield Hallam University and funded by Yorkshire South Tourism, eat Sheffield also creates better links between the region's restaurants and the city's students. Niki said: "We've got some great hospitality students here at Sheffield Hallam and we want to give them the opportunity to work with the city's best eateries on placements. And it's beneficial for the restaurants to have access to such enthusiastic students." The Eat Sheffield Annual Awards take place at Sheffield Hallam University in October.
